The Role

Director for Communities
£99,750

This is a key leadership role within the councils and across the wider partnership agenda for Adur & Worthing. We are committed to supporting stronger, more resilient and self-sufficient communities, and you will play a highly influential part in determining how the assets and resources of the councils, their partners, and the community itself can be best utilised to realise that ambition.

Data, design, systems leadership and co-production lie at the heart of this role. It will suit an individual who can facilitate and curate debate, encourage new approaches and recognises the value of focusing on outcomes rather than delivery mechanisms. We want to nurture social enterprise and entrepreneurism within our Councils and within the community, and draw on the considerable talent and potential that exists across Adur & Worthing.

It’s important that you possess an understanding of how local social economies work, and that you can use intelligence and data as evidence sources to support or challenge different approaches. You’ll provide strategic leadership and direction across a wide remit (from housing to waste management) with highly capable heads of service in place we are looking for a Director who is focused on how services, communities and places can develop.

We’re setting ourselves ambitious outcomes for what we can do in Adur & Worthing. With that aspiration comes a recognition that traditional approaches won’t get us where we want to be. If that inspires rather than intimidates, this could be your ideal next move.
